Dr. Joe is a Board-Certified Clinical Specialist in Orthopedic Physical Therapy (OCS) and completed his Orthopedic Residency through Evidence In Motion in 2018. Prior to that, he received his Bachelor’s in Biology from SUNY Oneonta in 2015, where he also became a personal trainer, before going on to graduate from SUNY Upstate Medical University with his Doctorate of Physical Therapy in 2017.
Joe employs a wide variety of techniques with his patients based on their individual needs. He incorporates:
- Dry Needling
- Joint Mobilizations
- Cupping
- Massage (Manual, Tool Assisted, Percussion Massager)
- Corrective Exercise
- Patient Education
He also emphasizes a holistic approach that incorporates nutrition, stress management, sleep science, regular exercise, and pain education to create massive improvements in quality of life beyond just your injury or pain!
Joe has been an athlete throughout his life, playing primarily baseball and soccer. He also has experience bodybuilding, obstacle racing, competitive running, competing in power lifting, and, currently, as a CrossFit athlete.
Outside of work, Joe enjoys spending time with his wife, Ali, and dog, Jax, watching a good Netflix series, drinking a nice craft beer/bourbon, and hiking in new places!
Dr. Renn graduated from East Carolina University with her Doctorate of Physical Therapy in 2019. Prior to that, she received her Bachelor’s in Nutrition Science and minored in Sports
Science from North Carolina State University (Go Pack!) in 2014 while also being a certified
group fitness instructor, a skill she continued to utilize while being a physical therapy technician
at Raleigh Orthopaedics and while in physical therapy school.
Since graduation, Renn has worked with a variety of orthopedic and some neurological
conditions, with patients ranging in age from 6 to 97 years old. She has a passion for the
Fitness Forward approach, treating all clients as athletes and getting them moving better and
more than they were before. Renn sees orthopedic conditions ranging from the cervical spine to the foot and ankle, with a specific love of runners, field and court sports, and the fitness athlete, particularly related to the spine and the hip/knee. She has previously worked with a variety of varsity ECU athletes, including football, cheer, baseball, cross-country/track, lacrosse, soccer, javelin, tennis, and swimming.

Renn has a passion for powerlifting, with past experience with basketball, volleyball, running,
Olympic lifting, and CrossFit. Outside of work, Renn enjoys spending time in the gym, hiking,
meeting up with friends, and traveling.
